Southern Windsor Region

Southern Windsor County is in the heart of an area steeped in early American history and has endless opportunities for year-round outdoor recreation. The region is known largely for its two major ski resorts - Okemo in Ludlow, and Mount Ascutney in Brownsville. There are thousands of acres of state forest; several wildlife management areas; dozens of lakes, ponds, and reservoirs; three major river systems with countless tributary streams; hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowmobile trails; and many campgrounds, golf courses, and other facilities. Other area attractions include museums, roadside farmstands, maple sugaring operations, berry farms, shopping in beautiful village centers like Windsor, Springfield, Ludlow and Chester; and the picturesque beauty of Vermont's legendary fall foliage.
